In 1894 the modern Fukagawa company (Fukagawa Porcelain Company) was founded by Fukagawa Chuji (1871-1934) in the Arita region of Japan. The company exported a highly prized porcelain ware to Europe and America. The Fukagawa mark is the name of the company below Mt. Fuji.
In the Paris International Exposition in 1900 Chuji Fukagawa won the medaille d'or with a large Flower Vase. The Fukagawa company has served as purveyor for the Japanese Imperial Household since 1910 and only produces white high temperature porcelain.
