Knud Khyn was an accomplished Danish painter and ceramic sculptor. He worked at Royal Copenhagen at three different periods: 1903 - 1910, 1924 – 1932, and 1936 - 1967. He also worked at Herman Kähler’s pottery 1920 - 1924 and twice at Bing & Grondahl 1908 - 1915 and 1933 - 1935.

Kyhn continued the ceramic tradition of his native Funen Islands, focusing on animals and their movements. His animal figurines became very popular as he successfully captured the expressions of his subjects, how they move, and how they play.
