Karl Erik Iwar: Schnauzer Figurine

February 8, 2024 Clark Miller

Karl Erik Iwar (1920-2006) studied at Upsala Ekeby pottery. He then worked for the company between 1936 and 1946. In the early 1950’s Iwar opened his own workshop. Today Iwar is best known for his pottery animals made at his workshops in Farsta and Åkersberga between 1953 and 1987. The figurines are made of dark brown earthenware in modernistic shapes and with gently humorous expressions. They are partly glazed in earth tones.
