Marianne Starck (1931 – 2007) was born in Germany. From 1949 to 1952 she trained at the Hans Joachim Troms pottery. In 1955 Starck moved to Denmark to work as a ceramist at Michael Andersen & Sons where she became the art director. One of her most popular sets of designs was for the 1950s “Tribal” series. This series features white motifs carved by hand through to black clay.

Helena Tynell (1918-2016) was a pioneer of Finnish art glass. Tynell started her career in 1943 designing for Arabia. In 1946, having decided to focus exclusively on glass, Tynell left Arabia to join Riihimäki Glass . One of her best-known designs is the Aurinkopullo ('Sun Bottle') vase, which was produced in the 1960s and 70s. Her works are included in the collections of the Design Museum, Helsinki, the National Museum in Stockholm, and the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, New York.

Anton Lang Blue and White Griffin Candle Holders (pair)

Anton Lang blue and white Griffin candle holders. Produced in Oberammergau Germany in the 1920s or 1930s. Signed on the bottom with an impressed facsimile Anton Lang signature. Each one measures approximately 7 inches long by 4 inches wide by 7 inches tall. Price: Not Available

Anton Lang (1875 - 1938) was a third-generation German studio potter and an actor in the Oberammergau Passion Play. He played the role of Christ in 1900, 1910, and 1922. His son Karl managed the pottery from 1934 until 1975. Karl’s daughter, Barbara Lampe,  took over in 1975 and changed the name of the business to the Barbara Lampe pottery in 1995.
